IN 2012 THE INTERNATIONAL DANCE GAMES® WILL TAKE PLACE IN SPAIN!
IN 2012THE INTERNATIONAL DANCE GAMES® WILL TAKE PLACE IN SPAIN! Spain is one of the most beautiful and amazing countries of Europe with a mysterious and interesting history. Spain is one of the largest countries on the territory of EEC. It is situated on the most part of the Iberian Peninsula. Its population is 39,5 million of people. Except for Madrid there are no less famous big cities such as Barcelona, Valencia and Seville. It is a very ancient country. The earliest facts known to scientists bring us to ancient times when Iberians lived on the Iberian Peninsula. In 5-3 centuries B.C. Celts inhabited Spain. These lands were the province of Roman Empire in late 1st century. Since the beginning of our era Visigoth State was established on the ruins of Roman Empire. Then Arabs came and captured the entire territory of Spain (711-718years) and created a number of states. It was the era of stability. During the Reconquista (718-1492) Spanish Kingdoms of Aragon and Castile and many others were created. Since the era of unification of Castile and Aragon in 1479 Spain was a united state. At the beginning of 16th century Spanish Colonial Empire was established. But at the beginning of 18th century the European Dynasties’ struggle for the Spanish Crown began and it led to a war. In 1923 a military- monarchist dictatorship was established. The monarchy was dethroned on the 14th of April 1931. It started the Spanish Civil War (1931- 193). During this period National Front was created (January 1936). The war ended with the establishment of dictatorship led by General Francisco Franco, Spain was declared the kingdom (1947). Only after Franco’s death in November 1975 Juan Carlos was designated king. At present Spain is a modern European power. Its monetary unit is Euro. Its main religion is Catholicism. Official language is Spanish. Countries of EEC and the USA are the major foreign trade partners. Spain is also one of the most beautiful parts of our planet, the largest region of international tourism (about 50 million people a year). Scenic mountains, warm sea and sociable Spanish make the country attractive for tourists. Spain is rich in cultural traditions is considered to be an open-air museum. Spain is a homeland for Cervantes, Lorca, Salvador Dali, Picasso and Goya. If you visit our festival you will learn a lot about this marvelous and mysterious country.
The contest is held once a year and it moves from one country to another. In June 2012 the INTERNATIONAL DANCE GAMES® begins in Spain on a famous stage La Siesta. Since 1960 and currently La Siesta is considered to be one of the best dance-halls in Spain. The festival will be opened by tenor Sam and a famous flamenco dancer Jose Leon who holds the world record for the fastest flamenco dancer. He has never been beaten since 1967 and 1989 for the amount of steps with his feet in one second and one minute.
